Yamaha Rhino Rollovers

The Yamaha Rhino has received much scrutiny as it is a side-by-side UTV (utility terrain vehicle) with a high center of gravity and a lack of common sense safety features that would protect passengers in the event of a rollover. There have been at least 46 reported deaths and hundreds of injuries associated with the Yamaha Rhino--even at slow speeds. Most of these accidents and injuries were caused by rollovers. Although Yamaha has since issued a recall for the specific UTV models that were particularly dangerous, some of these remain in use. The Yamaha Rhino 450, 660 and 700 models are known to have a particular propensity to rollover - even if they are operated in a safe manner. Recently the Yamaha Rhino off-road vehicles were recalled after 46 had died in accidents, many of them a slow speeds. These sides-by-sides can cause traumatic injuries such a paralysis, brain injury, internal injuries and death.
